WORK GOD DAMN IT.

Postby Zymon on December 28th, 2009, 8:30 pm

So I got two fine computer screens that has worked fine for ages.

The computer that I'm currently using only got an socket for DVI and HDMI (No VGA).
The better screen that I prefer to use got a VGA socket, so I bought an adapter which made it possible to connect the computer together with that screen with a DVI cable. But, there was no success. Screen still requested that I needed to check the signal cable. So, I bought a new DVI cable and tried that one instead, still, no success. Also tried it in the other screen which has a DVI socket but same response there, nothing happens.

SO, I figured that something must be wrong with the graphic card then!
I bought an HDMI cable and tried it in the TV and voila! It worked. But then again I can't have the computer in front of my familys TV all day and I can't play there during nights. SO I GOT AN EPIC PROBLEM HERE AS USUAL.

WHY IS IT ALWAYS SO THAT THERE IS SOME SORT OF EVIL SOURCE THAT PREVENTS ME FROM HAVING TECHNICAL STUFF THAT WORKS?

So now, as I've tried everything. I've come to the conclusion that all problems occurs when I'm around. So, if I move away and let it work by itself, would it perhaps work fine then? I think it is something with presence... I must be sending out some sort of signals..

Anyhow. I don't got the money to get it repaired and I don't got the money to buy a new graphic card (which seem to work fine except for the DVI socket..). And since I bought L4D2 today for my savings for my trip next year. I'm mighty pissed off :D

Yeah, it's really weird :/

I just don't get why the HDMI would work, but not the DVI, in the same videocard..

rofl :P

Seriously Ehnen, I need to get a new videocard (which won't happen...). Anything you'll do won't help now either :<

I just now for the 125th time tried solving it by taking out the videocard and putting it back in again. Still no signal going through the DVI socket to the screen.

Well DVI includes the VGA output as part of the spec
I have a couple of VGA monitors running off DVI outputs with adapters
And no problems here

So unless your DVI port is busted... don't know

well true what you are saying :( a new gpu is what you need if ther is no response from the outgoing dvi contact.

IF you don't find it better to buy a screen with hdmi connections ;)
