The Group Thing is a community gaming group formed for the sole intention of hassle free gaming.
Originally an idea hatched in the fevered mind of Tsujigiri, the idea spread like a virus to Salteh and Ca9ine and soon infected the clans of Earthquakers, Connect Gaming and Ghosts in Gloom.
Since it was born The Group Thing has infected several other clans and gaming organisations including The Gathering, a huge multigaming community and BAD a smaller but wildly enthusiastic group of now sadly infected members.
The website and overall theme of The Group Thing website has been refined and redeveloped almost continually by Hangman, Ca9ine and his web team, who are also working hard on spreading the sheer joy that is The Group Thing.
As a thriving multigame community, comprised of many clan players and individuals, we prize hassle free gaming on our servers, and so have an effective staff of admins who maintain a fun atmosphere by removing abusive and exploitive players.
The Group Thing runs several servers in different games including:
- Left 4 Dead
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Left 4 Dead - Haunted (Mod)
- Killing Floor
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
- Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars
- Counter Strike: Source
- Team Fortress 2 – Prophunt (Mod)
All Sponsored by our major partner Alpha Networks.
The Group Thing also supports a thriving Mod Development group, who have created a unique mod for Left 4 Dead which we call Haunted. Haunted is designed to take the standard Left 4 Dead game, give it the tools to tear your arms off and beat you to death with the sticky end. Take the time to visit our servers and meet Peter, the tank and his buddies, yes, we named him. We felt that after he became physical with all of us so often we should be on first name terms.
Many of TGT members are professional game developers and designers who have been part of major game mods, or retail game releases, we have a good working relationship and sponsorship from Splash Damage, the creator of Wolfentstein: Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars and the upcoming eagerly anticipated BRINK.
If you want to be part of The Group Thing, as a competitive clan, as an individual player or casual clan or if you want to join the Mod Team then you are most welcome, but we need to make sure that we all get along.
Open a forum account, join our Steamgroup and Xfire Cult, visit us on IRC and above all else join us on our game servers so that we can get to know you, and you can become part of one of the best gaming communities on the net.
